Taiwanese manufacturer BenQ is also entering the netbook market. It has announced that by next month the Joybook Lite U101 with 8.9 inch screen will be released. A 10 inch model will follow in November. Reportedly, both versions support a resolution of up to 1024x600 pixels.
Both netbooks feature Intel´s 1.6 GHz Atom processor, 1 GB of memory and a 5400 RPM hard disk of a still unknown size. LAN WiFi and Bluetooth are present and optionally a 3G network module can be added. The netbook also has an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam, three USB-ports, a VGA-connector and a 4-in-1 cardreader. It is powered by a 3-cell battery and will have either Windows XP Home or Linux pre-installed.
It's rumored that BenQ's Joybook Lite U101 will cost about NT $15.000, which is about $470 USD.
