Arctic Cooling has introduced its first notebookcooler, branded Arctic NC. The new creation is equipped with two 60mm fans and also features an integrated USB hub with four ports. The cooler is placed beneath the rear of the notebook, creating a space between the table and the bottom of the notebook. The two fans then provide additional airflow beneath the laptop, removing the hot air from underneath it and cooling the components inside more efficiently. The cooler also causes the notebook to be positioned slightly tilted, something that will enhance the typing experience.
The Arctic NC is compatible with notebooks ranging from 12 to 19 inch and the power required for the fans is drawn from the USB cable. The fans are PWM and spin between 800 and 1700 RPM. Arctic Cooling reports that the Arctic NC adapts its cooling capacity to the notebook's temperature, allowing for more silent operation when the notebook isn't as warm. It's still unclear how this works exactly, but it sounds like a welcome feature.
As mentioned, the Arctic NC has an integrated USB hub with four connectors. This allows all peripherals to be connected to the cooler directly, making it function as a simple docking station as well. Dependant on the fanspeed, the Arctic NC sports a sound pressure between 0,1 and 0,3 Sone. The cooler weighs about 250 grams, making it a lot lighter than an aluminum notebookcooler. Arctic Cooling's new Arctic NC is to be released in October in both a silver-gray edition and a black version. The recommended pricetag is specified at 21,90 euro.
