As Hardware.Info reported last week, a new ATI graphics card has been launched in China; the Radeon HD 4750. This card is based on the 40 nm  RV740LE-chip and features a core clock frequency of 750 MHz, while its 512 MB of GDDR5 memory is clocked at 800 MHz. The card uses a 128-bit memory interface.

The RV740 is known from the Radeon HD 4770, a card which features the same clock frequencies and memory specifications. The diffference is that the HD 4750 only has 480 active stream processors, whereas the HD 4770 has 640. Xtreview reports that its is possible to install a BIOS on the HD 4750 that is intended for the HD 4770, thus enabling the missing 160 stream processors.

This claim implies that the HD 4750 is physically identical to the HD 4770, meaning this card is equipped with 640 stream processors too, of which some are disabled by software. As of yet, there are no screenshots or other results of the softmod available.
