By the end of this year, manufacturer NEC will introduce a new widescreen LCD monitor with LED-backlighting. The Multisync EA222WMe as it's called, is a 22" model that is claimed to be up to 50% more efficient than conventional CCFL-backlit screens. The integrated "One Touch Eco" button allows the screen to run even more economically, though NEC is still secretive on the details. The screen's brightness is specified at 250 cd/m². Shamefully, no information is available regarding the resolution and response time of the monitor.

The new 22" screen with LED technology has both a DVI and a DisplayPort connector. NEC's EA222WMe will become available in December. It'll be launched in the colors black and silver-white. A price has not yet been mentioned.
