Manufacturer FloppyDTV closes doors
Bad news for FloppyDTV and FireDTV card enthusiasts: manufacturer Digital Everywhere has announced on its forum today that a decline in sales has forced them to close their doors. Since their introduction several years back, the FloppyDTV cards have gathered a large fanbase; predominantly due to the fact that as of yet the FloppyDTV is the only TV-card in the world which'll allow digital cable television (DVB-C) to be viewed in Windows Media Center. Now that Digital Everywhere ceases the production and support of the cards, no substitute products are available.
Luckily, Digital Everywhere did develop drivers compatible with Windows 7. Our own tests show that the FloppyDTV cards operate completely stable in the new version of Media Center. This means that current owners of the card won't have to worry until the successor of Windows 7 comes around.
Those looking to buy a FloppyDTV card better hurry; some stock might be available still but it is sure to run out fast.
