Gigabyte's introduction of the GV-N26SO-896I not only brings a new graphics card, but a new series as well. Like the "Super Overclock" series name suggests, the cards are to guarantee better overclocks compared to the conventional models. Gigabyte claims that only the best GPU-chips are selected for this series. Combined with the famous "Ultra Durable" components known from motherboards, the chips are to stay a lot cooler and work more efficiently, allowing for more headroom to push the card even further.
The GV-N26SO-896I is the first graphics card in the line-up and is based on the GTX 260. The card comes overclocked out of the box; 680 MHz on the core, 2350 MHz for the memory and 1466 MHz for the shader units. The card is equipped with 896 MB of GDDR3 memory and the regular amount of 216 shader units. Remarkable is Gigabyte's decision to use a reference cooler on the card, which to us appears as a limiting factor for the overclockability. The card has a D-Sub connector, as well as a DVI and HDMI output.
A launch date and recommended price for Gigabyte's new GV-N26SO-896I card have not yet been mentioned.
