Acer has expanded its Timeline notebook line-up with the 8000 series. The new series of lightweight notebooks will initially feature three models, each with a specified battery life of about 8 hours. The differences between the three versions are mostly found in the diameter of the screen; there will be a 13,3-inch, a 14-inch and a 15,6-inch model available. The 1366 x 768 resolution is identical in all three laptops. Like the existing Timeline models, the new ones will be powered by an Intel CULV processor.
The top model is the smallest model, the 13,3-inch Timeline 8371, which can be equipped with the 1,4 GHz Core 2 Solo SU3500 or its dualcore counterpart, the Core 2 Duo SU9400. The compact netbook comes with 4 of 8 GB of RAM, dependant on whether a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system is pre-installed. It features a storage capacity of between 160 and 500 GB. An 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless network adapator has been integrated and graphics are provided by the GMA 4500MHD videochip. A 6-cell battery is used to power the system.
Optionally, a more powerful ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 chip is available. Acer also provides the option to replace the conventional hard disk with an 80 GB Intel X25-M SSD. The total weight is specified at 1,65 kg. The 14- and 15,6-inch models will feature similar specifications and all three versions are to be released shortly.
