Images ASUS Maximus III surface

The first images of ASUS' upcoming Maximus III Gene motherboard have surfaced on the internet. Like the earlier Gene-boards, this P55-model from the Republic-of-Gamers series features a microATX form factor. ASUS has equipped the Maximus III Gene with a 10-phase power design, support for socket 1156 processors, four DDR3 memory slots, two PCI-Express x16 slots for SLI and CrossFire, an eSATA-connector and seven conventional SATA II ports. ASUS' latest addition also features Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire and Power-, Reset and Clear CMOS-buttons. The X-Fi SupremeFX soundcard is bundled to provide the audio.

It's still unclear when ASUS' Maximus III Gene will be released and what it'll cost. It's expected to be around mid-September or early October, in synergy with the launch of Intel's Core i5 processors.
