Low-profile DDR3 module by Super Talent

Super Talent has launched a VLP (Very-Low-Profile) DDR3 module, with a total height of 1,8 cm. The W13VB2G8x module has a 2 GB capacity and a 1333 MHz clock frequency. Thanks to its limited height, the module is perfectly compatible with for instance 1U servers and other systems with limited space. Thanks to the decrease in height, the module's PCB could be reduced in size by 40%, which results in a weight decrease of 20%. The registered DIMM module contains ECC error correction, features a CL9 latency and operates at 1,5 Volt.

The compact-sized W13VB2G8x will also contain an integrated temperature sensor, which protects the modules from overheating by automatically adjusting the clock frequency, based on the temperature readings.  Super Talent has not yet mentioned a recommended price for its new DDR3 module.
