One of Expreviews forum members has been able to get SLI running on an ASUS Maximus Formula motherboard, based on Intel's X38 chipset. By means of a software hack, he was capable of running two 8600GT, as well as two GTX 260 cards in SLI. The hack has been confirmed by Expreview representatives, who've tried the same trick on an Intel P45 motherboard. This also allowed them to run two GTX 260 graphics cards in SLI as well.

The last SLI hack attempt comes from the age of Intel's 975X chipset, and was accomplished using old GeForce cards. The new hack hasn't been fully completed yet, to enable SLI on a socket LGA775 motherboard, the system needs to be in the "Directory Services Restore" mode. According to the hacker, this problem can easily be resolved in a later version. A number of tests show that SLI on the Intel chipset performs extremely well and that SLI is indeed in effect.
