AOpen has created a new Mini-ITX motherboard that is compatible with Intel's socket LGA775 processors. A notable fact is that this board uses the same nVidia chipset that is present on nVidia's Ion platfrom. The chipset supports a frontsidebus of up to 1333 MHz, which means it's compatible with the faster Core 2 Duo and Quad models. The integrated GeForce 9400 IGP is a DirectX 10 chip, but can also be used for CUDA applications. This onboard GeForce 9400 also features advanced video acceleration, making the board suitable for small HTPC's as well.

The new AOpen board will be branded nMCP7AUt-V and has room for two DDR2 SO-DIMM modules with frequencies of up to 1066 MHz. Another remarkable fact is the present of a PCI-Express 16x slot, which is rather rare for a Mini-ITX board. There are three SATA 3 Gbps connectors present, supporting raid 0, 1 and 5. The Realtek Azalia ALC889 soundchip provides users with surround sound, while Realtek's RTL8211C chip takes care of Gigabit LAN connectivity. The I/O panel features another six USB connectors, as well as DVI and HDMI outputs.

AOpen's nMCP7AUt-V is already available in Japan, at the equivalent of $199.
