Late July, reports were made on a firmware bug in Intel's second generation of X-25M solid state drives. the SSD's with firmware version 02G2 were causing problems when the BIOS password was modified or erased. The data on the drive could end up corrupted and irreparable. The Tech Report states that Intel has finished the firmware fix and is ready to launch it. Owners of the 34nm SSD will be wise to visit Intel's site and install the new firmware. The release of the new firmware will also re-initiate the shipping of Intel's X25-M SSD's.
