Intel has temporarily stopped shipping its 2nd generation of X25-M solid state drives due to a firmware bug. The new 34nm based SSD's are sold with firmware version 02G2, but this appears to create conflicts when the BIOS password is modified or erased.  Intel recommends the early adopters that've already purchased a new 'Postville' X25-M drive not to touch the BIOS password until a new firmware version is released. Naturally, the update will become available through Intel's website.

Those who never use BIOS passwords or have never changed it shouldn't be at risk of data loss and will be able to use the drives without any issue. Intel expects to release a new firmware version within two weeks, allowing the drives to be shipped again.
