Yesterday we reported Intel would have three cpu models available at the launch of the Lynnfield platform, two of which would be Core i7 8xx versions, with the last one being a slower Core i5 750 without Hyperthreading. Today we have price information on the new processors, as two Belgian webshops are listing all three models in their inventory.

The new Core i7 and Core i5 chips are designed for socket LGA1156 and consume less energy than the Core i7 socket LGA1366 models. The fastest Lynnfield chip is the Core i7 870, running at 2.93 GHz. At the time of writing it is listed for a little over 540 euro. The Core i7 860, running only marginally slower at 2.8 GHz, is much more interestingly priced at 280 euro for pre-orders.

Right now the Core i5 750 is the most affordable socket LGA1156 cpu, but hardly cheap considering the pre-order price of nearly 200 euro. Especially taking into account the Core i5 series lacks Hyperthreading, leading to measurably lower performance in a range of applications compared to Core i7 8xx models.

Pre-order prices of Intel's Lynnfield quadcore chips publically available.
