DFI has added a new motherboard to its Blood Iron line-up. The G41-T33, as it is called, is a new Micro-ATX motherboard equipped with an LGA775 socket, which makes it ocmpatible with all processors from the Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad generation. DFI uses Intel's new G41 chipset on this board. The G41 chipset uses an integrated GMA X4500 videochip. This chip is DirectX 10-compatible, but lacks the additional functionality to provide hardware-based acceleration for 1080p HD video.
DFI's Blood Iron G41-T33 board features two DDR3-1066 memory slots and a single PCI-Express 16x slot. The chipset is passively cooled by simple aluminum heatsinks, while the power design around the processor does not have any additional cooling. Apart from four SATA 3 Gbps connectors, DFI has also added a PATA and Floppy connector to the board, thus supporting older hardware as well.
The I/O panel of the new Blood Iron motherboard is equipped with Gigabit LAN, analog 5.1 audio, USB, PS/2, VGA and a classic printer port. Thanks to the ABS II functionality, the board is able to automatically overclock the processor to the frequencies of a more expensive model. The new Blood Iron board is to be released soon, bearing a pricetag of about $90.
