While nVidia said farewell to the AGP era a long time ago, AMD's partners still consider it interesting enough to develop new graphics cards for this old interface. This has its advantages: apart from the extra computing power, these GPUs also add support for technologies such as DirectX 10.1 and the advanced UVD video decoding. This would make an older system suited for the playback of HD video, even when the processor isn't as powerful. It'd also provide users with an HDMI-output, capable of transmitting 7.1-surround sound as well.
HIS appears to be interested in this market and has developed a new graphics card with an AGP 8x connector. The card is branded HIS H467Q1GHDAP and -as the name suggests- is based on the Radeon HD4670 videochip. The card's IceQ addition refers to the dualslot cooler, which blows the heat from the card directly out of the chassis. The core is clocked at 750 MHz, while the 1 GB of GDDR3 memory features an effective clock frequency of 1746 MHz.

The chip that is used for the HD4670 is equipped with 320 shader units and a 128-bits memory interface. These specifications will make the card perform similarly to the old HD3850 and HD3870 models. HIS' new HD470 IceQ with AGP 8x interface is sized 126 x 203 x 40 mm. The card should be available at the moment of writing at a price of just over 100 euro.
