According to BitTech, several sources claim Western Digital is working on a new Raptor hard disk. This drive would have platters running at an incredible speed of 20.000 RPM. This possible successor of the VelociRaptor -which spins with a 'mere' 10.000 rpm- is to compete with the speeds of an SSD.

When, or if we can expect the drive is unknown. BitTech reports that the disk would be a 2.5" model with a 3.5" casing. The goal of this case is to make the hard disk quieter than the previous Raptor models.
