You were able to read AMD's plans for the Puma notebookplatform here earlier. Puma has now been officially introduced, also bringing the launch of the first three Turion X2 Ultra processors with it. Part of Puma are the RS780M + SB700 chipset, Griffin processor-core, Hyper Transport 3.0, PCI-E 2.0 and the integrated Radeon HD 3200 GPU with Universal Video Decoder (UVD).
The first Griffin processors are the ZM-86, ZM-82 and the ZM-80. All three are based on the 65nm K8 architecture, the ZM-86 features 2 MB L2 cache and runs at 2.4 GHz, the ZM-82 and ZM-80 both have 1 MB L2 cache and respective clockspeeds of 2.2 and 2.1 GHz. Compared to it's predeccesor, the Griffin has a better memory controller supporting DDR2-800 SO-DIMMs and a Hyper Transport 3.0 connection. The Turion X2 Ultra uses a variety of power saving techniques, the processor can run at a lower clockspeed and partially, or even completely, shut down the Hyper Transport connection.
The first Puma-notebooks are expected shortly and several manufacturers have already announced new models.
