VIA launches new Nano processors
VIA has introduced a new generation energy efficient processors, which is to replace the old C7. VIA's new processors are based on the Isaiah architecture and will have clockspeeds of 1.0 up to 1.8 GHz. The power consumption of these new CPU's, which will be called Nano, differs from 5 Watt for the slowest model, to 25 Watt for the fastest 1.8 GHz version. That covers the area between Intel's Atom processor, and AMD's most efficient mobile-CPU's.

VIA's Nano CPU's are pin-compatible with the previous C7 generation, allowing a faster switch for OEM's. Contrary to the current C7 processors, the Nano can handle 64 bit instructions. With the new Isaiah architecture, VIA has also added optimalizations for the playback of high-definition video, and the latest games. The Nano processors is created on the 65nm procedure and its only 21x21mm big. In idle, the Nano requires only 0.1 Watt, which means the processors are perfectly suited for subnotebooks and a small silent computer. This low power consumption comes from the new 'C6 power-state'.
The new processors are already available for the large computer manufacturer, but they should have found their way to the retail market in the third quarter of this year. Below is an overview of VIA's Nano line-up.
