Digitimes reports that ABIT is considering a withdrawal from the motherboard market. Sources claim that the conclusion will be dependant on the sales of Intel's P45 motherboard.
ABIT claims that it won't stop the motherboard production and will continue developing new boards as well.

Sources say that ABIT cannot live up to the expectations of its mother company, Universal Scientific Industrial (USI) and is unable to compete with other second-tier manufacturers, also falls behind first-tier producers when it comes to the mid-range and entry-level segment. USI is considering to abandon the market and the development of other products for the ABIT brand.
ABIT shipped two to three million motherboards in 2007, which increased the sales expectation for 2008 to 6 million. Since it has become clear that the amount of sold motherboards has significantly decreased, much will depend on ABIT's P45 motherboard sales figure.
