Cooler Master will release a 900 Watt 80 Plus Silver certified power supply soon. The Cooler Master UCP (Ultimate Circuit Protection) is the first power supply above 300 Watt to receive this efficiency label. So far only Dell and NXP have been able to qualify with respectively, 225 and 270 Watt power supplies.

According to the Electric Power Research Institute power supplies receive a standard certificate when they have an efficiency of atleast 80%. A bronze award is given to power supplies with atleast 82% and up to 85% efficiency. The silver certificate, rewarded to this power supply, requires an efficiency of atleast 85% and up to 90%. There is also a gold certificate, which requires a minimum efficiency of 87%.
