ASUS adds the new P5N64 WS Professional motherboard to it´s workstation line-up. The board is based on nVidia's 790i chipset, combining the latest 45nm Intel processors with triple-SLI. There's room on the workstation board for up to 8 GB DDR3 memory. Though officially the board only supports memory modules of up to 1333 MHz, with some overclocking this limit can be stretched out to 2000 MHz DDR2. ASUS's new motherboard also supports the 1600Mhz FSB.
The board features four PCI-Express 16x slots, three of which have the full 16 lanes. The bottom slot has eight lanes. There are also two regular PCI slots and one PCI-E 1x connection. Since this motherboard has room for four graphics cards, up to eight monitors can be supported.

To keep things a bit more environment friendly, ASUS has added the EPU technology to this board. The EPU technology adjusts the power to the specific processor and the load on it, making the system more efficient. A new feature on this motherboard is the additional Marvell 88SE6320 SAS controller, which adds two SAS connectors to the six SATA II ports from the southbridge.
ASUS has placed as many connections on the backplate as they could. Next to USB and 7.1 audio, the board has 2x Gbit LAN, two eSATA connectors and Firewire. ASUS' motherboard also has a module for WLAN with two antenna's.
