Eye-Fi has announced two new models of the wireless SD-card that was introduced last year. With Eye-Fi taken pictures can be sent to a computer or the internet through the wireless network. The new cards have a 2 GB capacity, equal to the original card, which has been renamed to the Eye-Fi Share.
The Eye-Fi Explore is the topmodel offering two additional functions; geotagging and a year of Wayport accesspoint. According to Eye-Fi, geotagging allows to determine the area in which a picture was taken, adding it to the EXIF-data. Through Wayport, you can connect to the internet on several locations, like airports. At the moment both functions are US-only.
If you don't need these services, you could opt for the cheaper Eye-Fi Home. Compared to the other cards, this one does not have access to the WebShare service, which allows pictures to be placed directly on the internet.
The recommended prices in the United States are $80,- for the Eye-Fi Home, $100,- for the Share and $130 for the Explore.
