Gigabyte has itnroduced a motherboard for the extreme overclockers: the EP45 Extreme. The motherboard supports Intel's Socket LGA 775 processors and DDR2 memory. Remarkable to this motherboard is the enormous heatsink which is based on Gigabyte's Silent-Pipe 3 construction.

The heatsink can be removed to make room for an LN2 CPU duct, and chipset watercooling. Gigabyte is considering to provide another LN2 duct with the EP45. The EP45 Extreme feautres a 12-phase PWM and the memory and chipset have a 2-phase PWM design. The final version will also feature an external clear CMOS button and an onboard power and reset switch.
Gigabyte's EP45 Extreme will be produced on a small scale
The EP45 extreme has three PCI-Express x16 slots. When CrossFire is enabled the top orange slot will run at 8x. The bottom orange slot has a permanent speed of 4x. At the moment Gigabyte is still working on a better version of EasyTune which will be packed with this motherboard.
