While the production of the first bug-free Phenom quadcores has only just started, AMD is already working on the transition to producing on 45nm. According to the latest news AMD will announce their first two 45nm Phenom's in November of this year already. They will have clockspeeds of 2,4 and 2,8 GHz.

The usage of the smaller production process allows AMD to add more cache to the processors. Whereas the current 65nm series has only 2MB shared L3 cache, the 45nm successor will have 6MB L3 cache. The new 45 nm 'Deneb' core will also support HyperTransport 3.0 and DDR3 memory, meaning the 45nm Phenoms will use a different socket (AM3) than the 65nm ones. The power usage of the two processors is estimated at 95W TDP, which is quite an improvement, compared to the fastest Phenom X4's.

Because November is still far away, AMD will first introduce new processors with the existing 65nm procedure, being a fast Phenom X4 9950 (2,6GHz) and energy efficient 9150e and 9350e processors.
