ASUS has launched the new Republic of Gamer (R.O.G.) Striker II Extreme motherboard. This board is meant for demanding gamers and features the nForce 790i Ultra SLI chipset by nVidia. The new Striker also has technologies equipped to maximize graphic results and heat reduction, overclocking functionality, and protection against overheating.

The ASUS Fusion Block System is based on an advanced heat pipe system: the waterblockcooling connects the waterblock with the watercoolingcircuit without the need for an additional chipset waterblock. The Fusion Block System is developed around the R.O.G. heat pipe system and offers dual path cooling; with a single connection to the Fusion Block System you are able to cool the Northbridge, Southbridge, Crosslinx, and VRM (which regulates the voltages to the microprocessor), all at once.

With the CPU Level Up option you are supposed to be able to enhance the performance of your CPU easily without any knowledge of overclocking, whereas the Extreme Tweaker is a simple solution to "tweak" the system to optimize performance. The R.O.G. Striker II Extreme allows you to have three high-end VGA graphics cards with full x16 lanes support. According to ASUS this 3-WAY SLI system does not only give you higher 3DMark-scores, but allows you to play games more smoothly.

The Voltiminder LED of R.O.G is to work as the "red zone" of a revolution counter: it shows the voltage status of the CPU, North Bridge, South Bridge, and memory. By means of colors it is possible to check the voltages. The COP EX functionality allows the voltages of the chipset to be increased without having to worry about overheating.

The ASUS Striker II comes in two versions, the Striker II Extreme and the Striker II NSE. Both models are already available at recommended prices of €400 and €360.
