Western Digital has introduced the WD6400AAKS, a 3.5" harddisk with a capacity of 640 GB. As a part of the Caviar SE16 series this model has a 16 MB cache, SATA 3.0 Gbit/s interface and a speed of 7200 RPM. The disk uses the perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) and native command queuing (NCQ) technology.

The WD6400AAKS has two 320 GB platters, the format that WD has been using for her harddrives since January 2008, whereas the previous generation had 250 GB platters.
