With its LaserVue LCD, Mitsubishi claims the first laser TV on the market. The 65" model should become available by the end of this month. The company promises that the price of the TV will be similar to that of an average 65" LCD TV.
As mentioned, the first model in the LaserVue serie is a 65" one, costing about 7.000 dollar. In the last quarter of 2008, a 73" model will be added to the line-up, which bears a recommended price of 10.000 dollar.
According to the manufacturer, the LaserVue TV's offer twice the color range as non-laser powered LCD TV's, while the 120 Hz screens also have a brightness of 500 nits and 3D viewing capabilities. The LaserVues also have a power consumption of less than 200 Watt, which is only about half of some 65" LCD televisions.
