Edimax introduces new 802.11n solutions for desktop and notebook PC's. The EW-7727ln 32-bits PCI-card and the EW-7717Un USB-adaptor are the entry models of the existing EW-7728ln and the EW-7718Un network cards.
The new wireless adaptors support MIMO-technology at a price that, according to Edimax, comes close to the current 802.11b/g products. The NICs use the '1T2R' (one transmitter, two receivers) architecture, which should be able to reach great speed. This specific architecture should also take care of minimizing the energy consumption and decreasing it to a level beyond traditional 11n solutions.
The EW-7727ln is meant for a desktop PC, whereas the compact EW-7717Un is to connect laptops to a wireless and secured Wi-Fi connection. The EW-7727ln and EW-7717Un are fully compatible with the existing wireless network standards such as 802.11b/g/n.

The adaptors feature several security functions: WPA/WPA2 protection and WEP-data encryption are supported. Both products are also compatible with a Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) configuration function and Wi-Fi Wireless Multi Media (WMM), WMM-PS and Quality-of-Service (QoS). The EW-7727ln has two detachable 2dBi antennas which can be used in combination with the special mobile antenna standard (EA-MARS).
The EW-7727ln and EW-7717Un are available at a recommended price of respectively € 30,- en € 28,- (incl. VAT).
