AMD's K8-architecture has served for many years, but will gradually be replaced with the K10-architecture starting early 2009. By November this year though, AMD will introduce two new energy efficient K8-processors, the single core Athlon 2650e and the dual core Athlon X2 3450e. The first is a processor based on the 65nm Lima chip and has a Thermal Design Power (TDP) of only 15 Watt. The Athlon X2 3250e is a 65 nm Brisbane chip and bears a TDP of 22 Watt.
The Athlon 2650e runs at 1.6 GHz, the X2 3250e will be clocked at 1.5 GHz. The roadmap above also shows that the earlier announced Phenom X3 8850 and the Athlon X3 5050e processors, that are to be launched on the 8th of October. We also see the new 45 nm Phenom X4 processors, which are scheduled for release on the 8th of January 2009.
