New Lite-On burners

Lite-ON introduces a new generation of external DVD burners. The eSAU208 can be connected via the USB-port and get it's power from the bundled power adaptor. It also have an energy saving mode which can be activated when lower energy consumption is prefered. The writing/reading speeds are then reduced by 40-60%. In the case of older notebooks, that aren't able to deliver as much power through the USB port, the burner will also function better in the energy saving mode.

The eSAU208 will become available in two colors: classic bordeaux red and a black-white version. Both models have the same specifications and are equipped with LightScribe-technology. The eSAU208 should become available in Europe early October.  

Lite-On will also launch new EZDUB drives. Lite-On claims that these drives simplify the copying of discs. The user doesn't require any software, copying can be started with the press of a button.

The new EZDUB drives come in two flavors. The eZAU120 is an external DVD-RW burner which connects through USB 2.0 and burns at 20x speed. The eZAU220 has the same specifications, with the addition of LightScribe. 
Both drives will become available in the third quarter of 2008, prices are still undisclosed.
