ABIT, the company known for its budget motherboards, is possibly leaving the motherboard market. The reason is that there's too much competition. The South-Asian distributors of ABIT motherboards reports that the production will be ended by the end 2008. Until then, ABIT will still sell it's boards and offer that three year factory warranty on the sold models.
Though it's not an official announcement, it was rumored before, making it quite possible that the end is really nearing now. The last couple of years ABIT's motherboard sales figures haven't looked too bright. USI, the company that owns ABIT, reported that ABIT sold two to three million boards last year; only a small fragment of what the large manufacturers sell. ABIT has not yet responded to the announcements.
