Epson Artisan: new all-in-ones
Earlier this week, Epson launched the Artisan 800 and Artisan 700 all-in-one printers. The Artisan 700 is a photoprinter /scanner/copyer with a 5.9" touchscreen and a 2.5" LCD-display.
The Artisan 800 is a photoprinter/scanner/copyer/fax combination with an automatic paper loader. Through the onboard 7.8" touchscreen with 3.5" LCD, all conventional all-in-one actions can be activated and pictures can be edited as well (copy, enlarge, rotate, trim), without requiring a computer. It's also possible to use templates on pictures, thus generating a photobook. Another option is the creation of notition paper with a background image.
Both printers use HD Claria ink, spread over six cartridges. Epson claims that the Artisan printers can print ink with a resolution of 1.5 picoliter. The printers also supports the printing of cd and dvd covers. The print speed of both all-in-ones is 38 pages per minute (black). Color pictures of 4" x 6" would take the devices 10 seconds, whereas 8" x 10" would require 50 seconds to print
Both all-in-ones feature USB (PictBridge), Ethernet, Wi-Fi and optionally Bluetooth. They also have a multifunctional cardreader, able to read MiniSD, MicroSD, Mini DHC, MicroSDHC, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Pro Duo, Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo, Memory Stick Micro (M2), MMCmobile and MMCmicro memory cards.
Epson provides a two-year warranty program, called PreferredSM. PreferredSM means two year full warranty, website support through video tutorials, and free telephonic support. Epson users that register their product, will receive lifetime telephone support. Both printers are already available. The Epson Artisan 800 has a recommended price of 299,99 dollar, whereas the Artisan 700 will cost you up to 199,99 dollar.
