ASUS has announced that its latest Republic of Gamers (ROG) X58-motherboard does not only support Crossfire, but SLI as well. As of yet, it was only possible to have either one on a single motherboard.

It's still unclear whether the ROG board will feature one or two nVidia NF200-chips, making it impossible to tell whether a configuration with two graphics cards will both be able to use eight, or the full sixteen PCI-Express lanes. From the perspective of the consumer, the latter is hoped for.
Pricing and availability remains unknown for now, but it's expected that the X58-motherboard will be released shortly after the official introduction of Intel's Nehalem.
