The release of Intel's new Nehalem architecture is expected by the end of the year. For Intel, Nehalem means the disappearance of the Front Side Bus and the introduction of an integrated memory controller and the Quick Path Interconnect (QPI). The first processors to use this architecture are codenamed Bloomfield and three models will eventually be available.
| Processor | Frequency | QPI-speed | L3 cache | Memory | TDP | Socket | Price |
| Bloomfield XE | 3.20 GHz | 6.4 GHz | 8 MB | DDR3-1333 | 130 Watt | LGA1366 | US $999 |
| Bloomfield P1 | 2.93 GHz | 4.8 GHz | 8 MB | DDR3-1066 | 130 Watt | LGA1366 | US $555 |
| Bloomfield MS3 | 2.66 GHz | 4.8 GHz | 8 MB | DDR3-1066 | 130 Watt | LGA1366 | US $285 |
According to sources, the topmodel Extreme will cost US $999.-. The Performance and Mainstream-models, with a lower QPI-speed and support for slower DDR3-memory, will cost respectively $555,- and $285,-. The mentioned prices are at a quantity of 1000 pieces.
