Sandisk has released a remarkable series of SD cards earlier this week. The WORM (Write Once Read Many) memory can only be written a single time. Like with a CD-R, placed files can no longer be altered or deleted.

According to Sandisk, the memory will be useful for data that requires a great integrity, such as evidence in a lawsuit. The company claims that its physically impossible to modify or delete data from an individual file. Under the right circumstances, a WORM card should stay readable for up to a hundred years.

Currently, there's only a 128 MB model announced, but Sandisk assures larger versions will follow. Prices and availability are unknown.

ik zie het nut er nog steeds niet echt van in... het is wat kleiner dan een cdtje maarja... echte meerwaarde zie ik hier niet van.
