QNAP introduces two new multifunctional NAS devices, the TS-109 Pro II and the TS-209 Pro II. Both devices have an integrated 500MHz Marvell processor and 256MB of DDR2 memory. Thanks to this calculation power, the new NAS devices can be be equipped with a lot of extra software. Both models have a built-in webserver with the latest version of Joomla (1.5.1), a much-used CMS system for the creation of websites. The NAS also features a bittorrent client.
QNAP's new NAS systems have a Gigabit LAN connector and three USB 2.0 ports. These USB ports do not only recognize external harddisks and USB sticks but also support printers, digital camera's a USB hub and a UPS with USB.
The TS-109 Pro II has room for a single 3.5" harddisk and can also have an additional harddisk connected through e-SATA. The bigger TS-209 Pro II can fit two 3.5" drives, but lacks the e-SATA connector. The devices are sold without harddisks.
Both the TS-109 Pro II and the TS-209 Pro II feature an integrated FTP-server, UPnP media server and an iTunes server. As soon as photo's are sent to the NAS from a digital camera, these can generate a webbased photo album instantly. For more information about the new NAS devices, take a look at QNAP's website.
