Following PowerColor, GeCube releases a 1 GB version of the ATI Radeon HD4870 graphics card as well. Contrary to PowerColor, GeCube sees no reason to replace the standard cooler, because it's quite silent anyway and blows the heat straight out of the case. The clockspeeds of GeCube's version are the same as the reference 512MB models, the RV770 chip runs at 750MHz and the GDDR5 chips are clocked at 900 MHz (3600MHz effectively).

Though GeCube's 1GB HD4870 isn't available yet, it's already listed on Geizhals.de, with a price between the 246 and 270 euro. The relatively high price difference between the 512MB and 1GB versions is because of the expensive GDDR5 memory used, which is the reason why many manufacturers are reluctant to release a 1GB version of the HD4800 series. 1 GB graphics memory however can make quite a difference when you are playing recent games on a very high resolution.
