Data Robotics reports that the Drobo will be followed up by a second generation, its most important additions being FireWire 800, improved USB 2.0 and a stronger processor. The Drobo is meant as a primary storage device for image and video files, which can also be edited on the Drobo.

The second generation Drobo has kept the functions of the first, under which redundant data storage and the possibility to add more harddisks. In case you are into video editing, you will really appreciate the new FireWire 800 connection.
