No midrange Nehalems till Q3 of 2009?

According to an Intel roadmap that recently appeared on Expreview, the midrange Havendale and Lynnfield processors based on the new Nehalem architecture, will not be released before the third quarter of 2009. Until then, Intel wants to server the midrange market with a variety of 45nm dualcore and quadcore processors of the Core 2 architecture. The high-end Bloomfield version of Nehalem is still planned for the end of this year, with clockspeeds of 2.66 to 3.2 GHz.

The Lynnfield processor which will arrive almost half a year later will have four cores, 8MB cache, a dual-channel DDR3 memorycontroller and will is aimed towards the 'Performance' segement. This processor also featues two PCI-Express 8x connections for the graphics card. For the lower midrange segment, the Havendale will be introduced. This chip has two cores, 4MB cache and an integrated videochip. Thanks to the Hyperthreading support these processors can process respectively eight and four threads at the same time.
