Several motherboard manufacturers have plans to switch to an extensible firmware interface (EFI), the successor of the anqitue BIOS which is present as bootsoftware on each motherboard. However, to this day, there are hardly any desktop systems that feature this modern and flexible interface to boot up their system. MSI is changing this, through a BIOS-update for their P45D3 Platinum motherboard (with P45 chipset) the board can now boot a small EFI operating system which is able to adjust more than just the settings we know from the current BIOS.

The EFI environment of the MSI motherboard has a graphic interface with menu structure and can be navigated and adjusted with the mouse. Apart from that, the EFI also has more advanced functions, such as a webbrowser, a mediaplayer and simple games. There's also an option to choose your language.

This EFI, named 'Click BIOS' can be downloaded from MSI's website and is currently only available for the P45D3 Platinum. Support for the P45 Platinum and P45 Diamond will be added soon and is expected in the coming month. MSI is taking small steps to let enthusiasts meet the new BIOS, but has achieved a visible result with this program. Below are a few screenshots of the 'Click BIOS' graphical interface.
