Ritek will release new SSD's by the end of this month, based on the cheap multi-level-cell (MLC) NAND memory chips. The SSD's are of the 2.5" format and will be available in 32, 64 and 128GB with a SATA2 interface. A remarkable thing is the speed of these MLC-based SSD's which, with its 128MB/s for reading and 80MB/s for writing, is quite high. The disk will be called the RiDATA Ultra-S Plus.
The manufacturer claims a lifetime of 4 million hours MTBF. The most impressive thing about these SSD's is their price, with a respective price of $169,90 for 32GB, $294,90 for the 64GB version and $537,90 for the biggest 128GB model, their prices are getting closer to the territory in which the 10.000 RPM (Veloci-)Raptor disks dominate.
