AMD has released a new, more efficient version of its Athlon 64 X2 3800+ processor, called the 3800+ EE SFF. The processor uses the famous Windsor F2 revision of the 90 nm K8 architecture. This results in a Thermal Design Power (TDP) of only 35 Watt.
The Athlon 64 X2 3800+ EE SFF runs at a clockspeed of 2.0 GHz and has 2 x 512 KB L2 cache. The 35 Watt processor has been available for OEM systembuilders for some time already, but will be available in retail version shortly as well. In a German price comparison the processor has appeared at a price of about €33,-.
The Athlon 64 X2 3800+ EE SFF 35 Watt with Order Product Number (OPN) ADD3800IAA5CU will possibly replace the 65 Watt version of the Athlon 64 X2 3800+ EE with OPN ADO3800IAA5CZ.
