The ASUS Rampage Extreme will be the extended version of the earlier appeared Intel X48-based Rampage Formula. Where the last seemed quite similar to its predecessor, the X38-based Maximus Formula, the Rampage Extreme will have its own design.
The X48 chipset board supports DDR3 memory, has 16 CPU power phases and is watercooling ready. Apart from all the standard ROG additions, the board is bundled with the X-Fi SupremeFX soundcard supprting PCI-Express X-Fi Audio. Apart from that, the Rampage Extreme allows ATI Crossfire with two times the full x16 PCI-Express 2.0 lanes.
The boards system properties can be tweaked with the present TweakIt software. This software allows the adjustment of overclocks through special features on the board, while the results can be read on an external LCD screen instantly. On top of it all, the motherboard is packed with heatsinks and also has extra cooling for the MOSFETs around the CPU and memory area.
