A lot of rumors have been going around that nVidia will be releasing their next generation graphics cards very soon. The GeForce 8800 should hit the shops around 8 November, and it is the first 3D chip that is DirectX 10 compatible. Also the new cards feature Shader Model 4.0 and unified shaders.
Our information is that nVidia will have two models available at launch; the GeForce 8800 GTS with 640MB DDR3 memory and the flagship model GeForce 8800 GTX sporting no less than 768MB DDR3.The core on the GeForce 8800 GTX will run at a clock speed of 575MHz, and the memory at 900 MHz. The communication bus between the GPU and memory is 384 bits wide, which results in a maximum bandwidth of 86 GB per second. The GPU itself sports 128 unified shaders, all clocked at 1350 Mhz.
The GeForce8800 GTS GPU operates at 500 MHz and has a total of 640 MB DDR3 memory clocked at 900 MHz. The memory bus on the GTS version is smaller than the one on the GTS, "Only" 320 bits. The number of unified shaders is slightly lower as well, the GTS has 96 shaders all working on 1200 MHz. Both models will feature Dual Link DVI, TV-Out and HDCP support.
