Both HIS and PowerColor have released their version of ATI's X1950 Pro cards today, and both companies try to make something out of the ordinary of their version. Both the HIS and the Powercolor version come with a different cooler than the standard reference model on the card. Powercolor will release a 256MB and a 512MB version of the card, HIS will only release a 256MB version for now. Both models can be put in a CrossFire setup using an internal bridge rather than the external cable, a seperate mastercard is not needed if this bridge is used.
The X1950 Pro card run standard at 600MHz for the GPU and 1400MHz for the memory, support ATI's Avivo technology and sport H264 acceleration. The X1950 pro has a total of 36 pixel pipelines and 8 vertex shaders, as connections there are two DVI ports, a TV-Out/component port and ViVo capabilities. The X1950 Pro supports HDTV resolutions up to 1080p and is Windows Vista ready.
Powercolor X1950 Pro Extreme
As stated before this card comes in both a 256MB and 512MB version, and both version use a Arctic Accelero X2 to keep the card cool. Powercolor chose not to factory overclock this card, however they do claim that with the Accelero X2 the card has "huge overclocking potential". It seems that no extra software wil be bundled with this card. The full specifications of the X1950 Pro Extreme can be found on the powercolor website .
HIS X1950 Pro IceQ3 Turbo
His will only release a 256MB version of the card and calls it the X1950 Pro IceQ3 Turbo. As the name suggests the card sports HIS's IceQ3 cooler, a version with heatpipes that actively cools the memory chips as well. In the "Turbo" mode this card gets overclocked to 620MHz for the GPU and 1,48GHz for the memory. The cooler is, as all IceQ series, UV-reactive and draws cool air from outside the case to cool down the GPU and memory. HIS bundles the card with full verisons of the games FlatOut and Dungeon Siege, as well as DVD software by CyberLink. Full specifications of the card can be found on the HIS website.
The cards should be appearing in shops soon, at the time of writing the HIS X1950Pro IceQ3 Turbo could be found in online stores as pre order for around £ 160 including VAT.
