Toshiba today announced two new notebook series sporting a Core 2 Duo processor, the Satellite M115 and the Satellite P105 series. The M115 is a small notebook with a 14,1 inch widescreen TFT. It weighs only 5 pounds and incorporates the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor(2) T5200 (1.60GHz, 2MB L2, 533MHz FSB). The M115 comes in a onyx blue color, has up to 2GB of DDR2 memory and a 120GB hard disk. The M115 will be available in shops soon at a recommended retail price of $ 1.249.

More specifications of the M115:

  • TruBrite(TM) technology that offers a brilliant display for games or movies, and easy viewing of spreadsheets and other productivity applications;
  • DVD SuperMulti Double Layer drive that reads and writes in up to 11 formats that can nearly double a recordable DVDs storage capacity for photo, music and video files in either DVD+R or DVD-R double layer formats;
  • high-capacity 5,400rpm serial-ATA (SATA) hard drives(4) for faster access to stored files;
  • SRS TruSurround XT(TM) technology for a rich audio experience;
  • built-in harman/kardon(R) stereo speakers;
  • fingerprint reader for one-touch secure access management;
  • DDR2 533 MHz SDRAM memory(3) for better performance of productivity applications and music, picture and video multimedia files;

  • Express Media Player that gives users convenient access to CD and DVD playback and other multimedia functions without booting up the Windows operating system.

The second notebook introduced is the Satelllite P105 series. This notebook is meant as a desktop replacement machine, comes with a 17 inch widescreen TFT and external TV-tuner. Also the P105 can take up to 2GB of DDR2 memory and comes with either a 120GB, 160GB or a 200GB hard disk. The P105 series incorperates the T5200 processor (1.60GHz, 2MB L2, 533MHz FSB), and four different models have been announced. The P105-S6124 and the P105-S6134 feature USB external TV tuners for playing live TV from an antenna, cable or satellite set-top box. The units also feature Microsoft Windows XP Media Center 2005 for recording your favorite TV programming for later viewing, 2048MB DDR2 of memory, as well as a 160GB Serial-ATA hard drive and a 200GB Serial-ATA hard drive respectively. The estimated single unit price for the Satellite P105-S6124 is $1,499.99 and $1,549.99 for the Satellite P105-S6134.

Two slightly cheaper versions of the P105 are the P105-S6114 and the P105-S6104. They both come without TV tuner and, the S6114 has 2GB of DDR2 and a 160GB hard disk as where the S6104 has 1GB of DDr2 and a 120GB hard disk. Prices for these two models are $1,399.99 for the S6114 and $1,249.99 for the S6104

All P105 series notebooks also feature:

  • a DVD SuperMulti Double Layer drive that reads and writes in up to 11 formats that can nearly double a recordable DVDs storage capacity for photo, music and video files in either DVD+R or DVD-R double layer formats;
  • built-in harman/kardon(R) stereo speakers for a rich audio experience;

  • 5-in-1 bridge media adapter for easy file sharing and downloads;
  • full-size keyboard with 10-key pad for easy numerical entry.
