AMD and UP Servers will be demonstrating two servers based on the new AMD Socket F platform at LinuxWorld 2006, on the 11th and 12th of October. The servers in question are the UP Katun SF2 and the Vertigo SF4.
The UP Katun SF2 consists of 2 AMD Socket F processors, up to 64 GB of DDR667 REG memory and a maximum of 2 hot swap SATAII or SAS disks. The UP Katun SF2 is mainly meant for hosting applications where energy consumption and scalability are most important.

The UP Vertigo SF4 has 4 AMD Socket F processors, 128 GB of DDR667 REG memory and a maximum of 4 hot swap SAS disks. The UP Vertigo SF4 is a server solution for those running database applications.

The AMD Socket F platform supports hardware virtualisation and future quad-core Opteron processors. The Servers have also been optimised to a minimum of energy.
