Dailytech announced that a new Sony Vaio notebook will hit the shelves soon. The new Vaio G series are ultralight, weighing in at only 890 grams (1.98lbs), but it is still packed with features.
The notebook is made of carbon, and does not sport a widescreen TFT as most of the newer notebooks do, instead Sony chose to use a 12,1 XGA TFT. The chipset in the G series is a 945GMS Express by Intel that can either take a mobile Celeron processor or a Core Solo U1300 or U1400. The notebook does come standard equipped with 802.11g wireless networking, Bluetooth, PCMCI, multicard reader and a finger print reader, however an optical drive is an optional extra.
There will be a version of the Vaio G with an integrated multi DVD burner and a larger 6 cell battery. The battery is heavier and will take the weight of the Vaio to 1,13 kilograms (2.52 lbs), but at the same increases the battely life from 6 hours to an amazing 12,5 hours.
The new Vaio G series will be officially launched on December 2nd, with pricing ranging between US$ 1,800 to US$ 2,100.
