After BenQ leaving the Optical Disk Drive (ODD) business rumours started Lite-On was also planning of leaving the market to vendors as Hitachi-LG and Toshiba-Samsung. Today we recieved a statement telling us the rumours where based on some misinterepretations:

Statement Lite-On IT:

"In contradiction to what you might have read on the Internet, Lite-On IT will continue Optical Storage Business.

A wrong message has been posted to some international websites, suggesting that Lite-On IT will stop selling own brand Optical Storage products, however this is a misinterpretation of the facts. Lite-On will slowly discontinue the own brand standalone DVD-recorders, the ODD business will not be affected whatsoever."
